Amplitude, or argument
In mathematics, the angle `theta' between the
position vector of a complex number and the
real axis. For the complex number z, the
amplitude of z = r(cos `theta' + i sin
`theta'), in which r is the radius and i =
`sqrt'-1. The expression r(cos `theta' + i
sin `theta') is often abbreviated to r cis
`theta'.
